The Chelsea Legacy Trade-In Program honors that tradition by inviting owners of authentic Chelsea timepieces to exchange a vintage or existing Chelsea product with the company that built it. After factory inspection, Chelsea determines a Legacy Trade-In Credit that may be applied toward the purchase of a new Chelsea Ship’s Bell Clock or Barometer.

Whether celebrating an engagement, wedding, graduation, retirement, anniversary, military promotion, business achievement, new home, or another major life milestone, the program helps transform yesterday’s treasured Chelsea timepiece into tomorrow’s family heirloom.

At the same time, each exchanged Chelsea product returns to Chelsea, where its craftsmanship, history, components, and materials may continue serving future generations through restoration, preservation, responsible parts recovery, reuse, or material recycling whenever practical.

The Chelsea Legacy Exchange Program is founded on a simple principle: a handcrafted Chelsea product should continue to provide value for as long as reasonably possible.

Chelsea products have historically been designed to be maintained, repaired, restored, and enjoyed for generations. Every exchanged Chelsea timepiece is carefully evaluated to determine the most appropriate next use for the complete product, its original components, or its materials.

Chelsea may:

• Restore and return the complete timepiece to service through the Chelsea Certified Vintage Collection.
• Preserve a historically significant product in Chelsea’s archive, collection, or displays.
• Recover authentic movements, cases, bezels, dials, hands, glass, hardware, and other original components to support restoration of other Chelsea products.
• Use appropriate components for technician education, training, product research, or historical study.
• Recover and responsibly reuse or recycle brass, phenolic, glass, steel, and other materials when complete restoration is not practical.

Benefits of Responsible Reuse

For customers: An unused or aging Chelsea product continues its journey rather than being discarded, while helping fund the purchase of a new Chelsea heirloom.

For Chelsea Clock: Authentic components and historically correct materials support factory restoration, product preservation, technical training, and the Certified Vintage program.

For the environment: Extending product life, recovering components, and repurposing materials minimizes unnecessary waste and reduces the demand for newly manufactured replacement materials.

Chelsea seeks to maximize restoration, reuse, and responsible recovery so that as little of each accepted product as reasonably possible is wasted. The exact disposition of an exchanged product remains at Chelsea’s discretion following inspection.

Legacy Exchange Credit:

• Is determined solely by Chelsea following physical inspection.
• May reflect restoration cost, parts value, historical significance, expected resale value, archival importance, and potential reuse of materials or components.
• Has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash.
• Is non-transferable and may be used only by the participating customer unless Chelsea approves otherwise in writing.
• Must be applied to the qualifying new-product order associated with the exchange.
• May not exceed the eligible purchase price remaining after other permitted adjustments.
• May not be applied retroactively to a completed purchase.
• May not be combined with certain discounts, promotions, dealer pricing, or special offers at Chelsea’s discretion.

Every Chelsea product carries more than time. It carries memories, craftsmanship, history, and materials intended to endure.

Some products received through the Chelsea Legacy Exchange Program will be carefully restored and returned to service. Others will help preserve Chelsea’s history by providing authentic components for additional restorations, supporting technician training, or contributing to Chelsea’s archives.

When complete restoration is not practical, Chelsea will seek to recover and repurpose useful components and materials whenever reasonably possible so that as little as practical is wasted.

In return, a new Chelsea Ship’s Bell Clock, Barometer, or Tide Clock begins its own journey.
