Chelsea Clock Trophies to Honor 2011 Charleston Bermuda Race Winners
On May 21, 2011, yachtsmen from ports near and far began the 2011 Charleston Bermuda Race, the biennial sailboat event that challenges racers on a 777-mile course from Charleston Harbor to Bermuda. And Chelsea Clock will be there as the official trophy sponsor of this prestigious sailing competition, honoring winners in three different divisions with personalized trophies crafted from our distinctive Carbon Fiber Series of nautical clocks and barometers.
Sailors with boats of at least 30 feet in length have a choice of competing in one of five divisions: Racing, Cruising – Spinnaker, Cruising – Non Spinnaker, Double Handed or Multi-hull.
Traveling around the infamous Bermuda Triangle, the Charleston Bermuda Race, which began in 1997, has been named one of the most challenging races in the Western hemisphere. The biennial event kicks off in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina, and will conclude at the fleets' arrival in Bermuda with a three-day celebration.
“Our legacy is deeply rooted in a rich tradition of keeping time at sea,” says JK Nicholas, CEO of Chelsea Clock. “Being part of this prestigious race is an honor for Chelsea Clock. It allows us the opportunity to celebrate our nautical heritage while connecting with others who share a deep appreciation of sailing and passion for the open sea.”
