The sinking of the Titanic resulted in the Radio Act of 1912, requiring 24-hour radio watches at sea. The disaster also led to this clock design, which features two 3-minute periods marked in red, indicating Morse Code silence periods when only distress, urgent, and safety signals could be transmitted. Two green markings, likewise, designate silent periods on voice transmissions, where one would listen for or transmit distress signals. All ships and coastal stations kept a mandatory listening watch for such signals.

There is an additional white hour hand, called a Zulu hand, which can be set to Greenwich Mean Time or any other time zone you choose.

The Radio Room Clock case is made from phenolic - a high-impact, heat-resistant black resin that stands up to time and the elements. Featuring a clear glass lens and silver dial, its hinged bezel and brass screw-bolt lock offer easy access for adjustments. The Radio Room Clock mounts to most any surface and includes matching black mounting hardware.

Includes individual, hand-applied serial number, registered in Chelsea's manufacturing log.

The Radio Room Clock is a companion piece to the Patriot Deck Barometer, Patriot Deck Clock and Patriot Deck Tide Instrument.

Customer Testimonials

★★★★★

"I just opened my father's brand new Chelsea boardroom clock and WOW! It is absolutely exquisite. The engraving is beautiful and the clock itself is a work of art."

★★★★★

"I was thrilled to discover that Chelsea Clock Company is still in business making and servicing their clocks for over 120 years. I was able to have my 1906 Ship’s Bell clock’s movement cleaned and a new coat of lacquer applied to the brass case. The craftsmanship is exemplary, suitable for something you’d expect to see on display in a museum collection."

Bill M.
★★★★★

"I recently ordered 2 clocks with engravings as leaving presents for 2 colleagues. The office was excellent in working with us in formatting the text to fit the clocks, and accommodating our short timeline. The clocks looked beautiful and loved by the recipients."
